This friends, is RIDICULOUS. Yes. I start my new job tomorrow... and I am nervous. Why? I don't know. Probably tomorrow will be mostly paperwork and orientation. Not to mention, it is just the beginning of 8 weeks of training. I'm not even *doing* the job, tomorrow, so to speak. Sometimes, I amaze me. I know that I'm more than qualified for the job, I know I can do the job. I know I can LEARN everything that they will have to teach me. WHAT then, is the problem? I don't know. Maybe it's because I haven't had a real job in... many... months. Could that be it? Could it just be jitters from not working and now having to again? (You know, akin to falling off a horse, not getting back on again right away, then being faced with riding again?). I think mostly it is because I know that there is quite a lot riding on this job. I want (and NEED) to make a good impression. Not only that, I NEED this job. I am trapped in a sea of bills and debt - and this job, however much it may not be the job I *want*, is my only lifeline, and it MUST work out. SO. Perhaps it is just ridiculousness, because I have had too much time on my own to ponder it all. Yes. I will say that that is it. However, I am going to have to work real hard at sleeping tonight, as it is JUST not in me, right now. haha However. It is only three days, my first work week... and this weekend is supposed to be good weather. So. What's three days, really? AND, I do know Kasey that works there (and probably, if I looked around, someone else, too).... so, I'm sure there will be a familiar face every now and then. ANYWAY. I am done pondering all that. I am going to move onto other things. Ha. I will outsmart you yet, brain! I actually have a survey for you, Journal Land. Here's the setup: You have two choices, and you must pick one. You're going out for the evening with an entourage (6-8 people) to have a good, *memorable* time. Choice A: Upscale English Pub-style, complete with stone walls and exposed beam ceilings. Serving traditional UK inspired foods, like fish and chips, bangers and mash, beef wellington, etc. with the house specialties being game dishes like wild boar ribs, rack of elk and every so often, ostrich. Claim to fame being their imported selection of beers, ales, etc. Choice B: Upscale Swiss-cuisine, complete with a swiss decor. Serving traditional swiss foods like spetzel and weinerschnizel (yes, I butchered those spellings), with an exhaustive wine selection. Claim to fame being Fondue service - an entire 3-4 course meal of dipped foods (breads, meat and ultimately fruit and cake), causing the party to attempt fondue grace (hilarity OR disaster could ensue). Prices a bit higher than English Pub-style. Okay. What sounds more memorable and interesting to you? VOTE! Poll #1180112 Memorable Eating Experience.
Open to: All, results viewable to: AllWhich sounds like a more memorable, fun experience for a group of 26 year old diners? Alright. That being said (and I eagerly await your thoughts! Comments are welcome!), I'm going to bed. Wish me luck tomorrow! (Update to follow 4:30pm, I'm sure.). So. I had the weirdest revelation today (don't laugh). Like, seriously, I'm not entirely sure why this hasn't crossed my mind before. Well, I like to own books that I like. I also like to read large series. I also prefer to buy them used, if at all possible (really now, why spend upwards of $9 on a book, when you can usually find it between $1-3?). Although, this often leads to a bit of 'questing' to find something used. Well, of late, I've been pretty poor, but have managed to scrape together quarters here and there, or get as gifts, many of the books I've been reading. However, I find myself at an impasse. Against my usual protocols, I started reading this huge series - The Sword of Truth - before I owned the whole thing. Bad plan. The series was good, and I have flown through the first seven books. But, 8-11 seem to not be ANYwhere used, and I REALLY don't have the money for them used. And I want to read them. Soon. .... when suddenly the realization hit me: I bet the LIBRARY has them. *shockandawe* Yeah. I know. D'uh. But really, I can't remember the last time I got something at the library for a random read. Usually, I pick those up at used book stores and take my chances. AND, I even figured out that our little library has their whole catalog ONLINE and SEARCHABLE! (eee!), so I verified that they do, in fact, have the whole series... and better yet, they're all IN!. Guess where I'm going tomorrow? hehehe.... although, admittedly, this is a stop-gap measure (I can't own seven books of the series, and not the last few)... but, at least I'll get to finish the story! HA! (yes. This is where you end up if you don't finish college. Be warned, children!) Anyway. That brilliance aside, as I was making dinner tonight, I pulled another amazing feat... in my haste to get everything done, I left the pan handle hanging over the burner in front of it (which I had *just* turned off)... THEN, I grabbed the pan handle, resulting in a REALLY nasty burn of my left hand (because a lot of our handles are metal, or mostly metal)... basically my whole first finger and thumb (and all of the palm in between) took the brunt of the ouchiness, with a smattering of burning onto my middle finger. AWESOME. I've been holding ice packs all night. Thankfully, I seem to have warded off any blistering... although, there is a suspicious spot that looks... angry. In other news... there still is no other news. I went to Arick's (Kasey's younger bro) 21st Birthday shindig at Mulligan's on Saturday. I must admit, I was *really* nice to see everyone. I've felt like I've been in such an isolation bubble of late, I hardly know what to do with myself. But, Saturday provided a lot of hugs and updates on Life, as well as a few free drinks (Yay! Erin and Holly!), some dancing and a good 'ol fashion good time. I can't say it was completely drama-free (but hey, when is it ever?), but nothing too bad (*sigh*... Dominic.). I'm also really looking forward to having a job, because I think the Plude ladies are a good addition to the fun-crowd... definitely looking forward to a girls night at the bar, sometime. And so... with that... I leave you. I'm off to go dig up some recipes for tomorrow's dinner (Chorizo soup and crusty bread - all homemade. YUM!)... I think Holly's coming over, too. OH, wait, there is some random/good news... Apparently, my dad is having a guilty moment, because he just offered to pay my payments for The Rock Boat, until I get a job. AWESOME. I was really thinking (and like 2 days away from doing) I was going to have to cancel my reservations... Bleh. That would've sucked. So, randomness, in addition to some favorites, it was just announced that Hanson is going to be on the boat. Yes. Hanson of "ummmm... Bop!" fame... Although, they've come a long way since then - listening to some of their new stuff, they have a much more 'mature' sound (how could they not!?)... but, whether they are Rock Boat material... we shall see. Interesting, nonetheless. OKay. So. I would like to start out by saying that I don't have a single complaint about how this weekend has gone. Other than, it has gone. Having had a *long* week at work, Friday could not have come soon enough. My solution, sleep late on Saturday. My Mom called to ask me to dog-sit for the day... and my solution - take a hike. It was a beautiful, fall-crisp day... and generally a lovely Saturday afternoon. I rounded up Holly (and eventually Tim and his ex-roomie, Abby) and we climbed Spruce Mountain. My doggie was a wee bit frustrated that a) I did not hike as fast as the spritely, elven-man (sorry, Tim. ;-) ), and why couldn't HE hold her leash... and b) that standard poodles (even belligerent ones) were not for mid-hike snacking. I also came to the realization that I need to get the dog a backpack. Why? Not for stupid-dress-my-dog-up reasons, but practicality: The dog, even at the end of the 4.5 mile (UPHILL) hike was not tired. *I* was whooped. I think next time, with her own backpack, she can lug her own waterbottle (and maybe mine too), and perhaps a granola bar. I think it would be far more efficient. Maybe then, I could walk faster, and appease her. haahah But, the scenery was beautiful... Early October is definitely the time of the year to climb a small mountain. And yes, I took some nice photos.... unfortunately on a camera that requires developing, so everyone will just have to hold their horses in suspense.... I will say, that my one ankle is a little stiff and sore still... but more due to the little slip I took, than anything. Overall. Nice day. Following which, I ran home, showered and ate... and then ran back out of my house. Rounded up Silent Mike and Holly (attempted to round up Dom.. but. to no avail), and dashed into the liquor store right under the wire (no, really. They closed at 10pm, and we RAN in at 9:55) for supplies... then off to Tim's farmhouse in the middle of nowhere (Danville), for a chill, long-overdue, relaxed social engagement. Much Love goes to some of my favorite people in the World. Today was spent recovering (haha), by way of a fabulous omlet (ham and POTATO!!) at the Miss Lyndonville Diner and a hard-core nap when I got home.... hahaha AND... then, I even caught The Guardian (keven costner, ashton kutcher) tonight with Stephanie...(Awesome movie, PS.) We were both dying of boredom, and neither of us had enough money to do anything... SO. We pooled our fundage and came up with just enough $$ for both of us to go to a movie... and that seemed like the only good one.... Although, the previews for The Prestige - the new magican movie that's coming out - look REALLY REALLY good. I look forward to that. And here I am. It was just a nice weekend. Very... rejuvenating? Like, I actually feel like I did something, but at the same time, I feel as though my soul just got a break to recharge its circuits. Time spent with Amazing friends, no pressure and just a lot of laughs, is the cure to every evil, I am sure... And now.... to sleep, before work begins again... Stupid Mondays.... Well. Not too much to say about this weekend, actually... My cousin turned up on Friday night with his new toy - a Honda Shadow motorcycle. Very, very pretty, I will say. How he affords these things (not sure he does, really), I'll never know. Yesterday was amusing... after making a yummy dinner for my Mom and Allan, and getting allan hooked on Chicken Invaders 2 - seriously the most addictive, relatively brainless game out there... It's right up there with Snood, only I think this one is worse. hahah... So far, I've managed level 81/110. YIKES. And that was with GREAT struggle. ahahah Maybe it's not so mindless. But, Allan and I have a friendly competition going now.... MUAHAHAHA... Hit up Dom's Apartment for festivities, last night... intending only to stay a LITTLE while, I ended up rolling out of there at 4:45am this morning. NICE. That puts me in my own bed just after five... You know it was a party when you almost see the sun come up... hahaha... Interesting, but entertaining mix of people.... Still formulating thoughts on all of them, but... Good times were had by all... I woke up this morning RAGINGLY thirsty, and craving a potato like nobodies business, but other than that, no worse for wear! Yay Liver! Next Weekend (a general announcement): Hittin' up the Club. Electra in West Leb. I do believe. Any takers? (It's PAYCHECK week!!! wee!) And so.... that's just about it.... nothing too exciting to report.... Oh, perhaps a poll for you all, spurned by a discussion that Holly and I were having... Poll #823488 Age Differences?
Open to: All, results viewable to: AllIs the age game between a 19 year old and a 24 year old too much, in terms of dating? (or if that's just not enough options - comment away, people. ANYWAY.... Oh, wait, this just in... Allan just called me to let me know he got to level 71 on Chicken Invaders... MUAHAHAHA>..... I'm still just ahead of him! hahahahaha So. Yeah. Off to laundry and a book I go, me thinks... Tags: age, chicken invaders, party You might find me at: Home! I'm feeling...: happy I'm rockin' out to:: Crazy Bitch - Buckcherry
