Maybe tomorrow, I'll go to the Library.
So. I had the weirdest revelation today (don't laugh). Like, seriously, I'm not entirely sure why this hasn't crossed my mind before. Well, I like to own books that I like. I also like to read large series. I also prefer to buy them used, if at all possible (really now, why spend upwards of $9 on a book, when you can usually find it between $1-3?). Although, this often leads to a bit of 'questing' to find something used.

Well, of late, I've been pretty poor, but have managed to scrape together quarters here and there, or get as gifts, many of the books I've been reading. However, I find myself at an impasse. Against my usual protocols, I started reading this huge series - The Sword of Truth - before I owned the whole thing. Bad plan. The series was good, and I have flown through the first seven books. But, 8-11 seem to not be ANYwhere used, and I REALLY don't have the money for them used. And I want to read them. Soon. .... when suddenly the realization hit me:

I bet the LIBRARY has them. *shockandawe*

Yeah. I know. D'uh. But really, I can't remember the last time I got something at the library for a random read. Usually, I pick those up at used book stores and take my chances. AND, I even figured out that our little library has their whole catalog ONLINE and SEARCHABLE! (eee!), so I verified that they do, in fact, have the whole series... and better yet, they're all IN!. Guess where I'm going tomorrow? hehehe.... although, admittedly, this is a stop-gap measure (I can't own seven books of the series, and not the last few)... but, at least I'll get to finish the story! HA! (yes. This is where you end up if you don't finish college. Be warned, children!)

Anyway. That brilliance aside, as I was making dinner tonight, I pulled another amazing feat... in my haste to get everything done, I left the pan handle hanging over the burner in front of it (which I had *just* turned off)... THEN, I grabbed the pan handle, resulting in a REALLY nasty burn of my left hand (because a lot of our handles are metal, or mostly metal)... basically my whole first finger and thumb (and all of the palm in between) took the brunt of the ouchiness, with a smattering of burning onto my middle finger. AWESOME. I've been holding ice packs all night. Thankfully, I seem to have warded off any blistering... although, there is a suspicious spot that looks... angry.

In other news... there still is no other news. I went to Arick's (Kasey's younger bro) 21st Birthday shindig at Mulligan's on Saturday. I must admit, I was *really* nice to see everyone. I've felt like I've been in such an isolation bubble of late, I hardly know what to do with myself. But, Saturday provided a lot of hugs and updates on Life, as well as a few free drinks (Yay! Erin and Holly!), some dancing and a good 'ol fashion good time. I can't say it was completely drama-free (but hey, when is it ever?), but nothing too bad (*sigh*... Dominic.). I'm also really looking forward to having a job, because I think the Plude ladies are a good addition to the fun-crowd... definitely looking forward to a girls night at the bar, sometime.

And so... with that... I leave you. I'm off to go dig up some recipes for tomorrow's dinner (Chorizo soup and crusty bread - all homemade. YUM!)... I think Holly's coming over, too.

OH, wait, there is some random/good news... Apparently, my dad is having a guilty moment, because he just offered to pay my payments for The Rock Boat, until I get a job. AWESOME. I was really thinking (and like 2 days away from doing) I was going to have to cancel my reservations... Bleh. That would've sucked.

So, randomness, in addition to some favorites, it was just announced that Hanson is going to be on the boat. Yes. Hanson of "ummmm... Bop!" fame... Although, they've come a long way since then - listening to some of their new stuff, they have a much more 'mature' sound (how could they not!?)... but, whether they are Rock Boat material... we shall see. Interesting, nonetheless.

Finished!
OKay, I am DONE.

In lieu of presents this year (seriously, unemployment REALLY cuts down on your gift-giving abilities), I decided I would make things. And make I did. And of course, in true me-overachiever style.... if I'm going to MAKE something (or do something, or attempt something), I wanna go BIG. Complex. Interesting. This year's Christmas gifts were no exception.

BUT. I'm DONE.

Casualties include (but are not limited to): massively sore knees (god, I feel like an old lady), swollen bad-ankles and a knife-cut open finger/nail. Not too bad! But I tell you, standing in the kitchen for hours on end when you have some joint issues is NOT the best plan ever.
However. I think everyone will appreciate, if not enjoy the yumminess that is my creations.

Tomorrow, I just have to mail a few things out (they probably won't make it for Christmas... so we'll call it HOLIDAY treats?)... and package the rest of them... and then...

OH... Holly and I are going to go see National Treasure (barre) I think... Holly gave me some free movie passes (LOVE her.), so I could not be devoid of entertainment until I can afford them myself.

Ooo... and maybe a Party on Saturday night? In Warren? At Jakes? (random.). But only if I can procure myself a ride.

One thing I will say, it has been very interesting being unemployed. It has really given me new insight into a lot of friendships. Who loves you, how they love you and your significance in their life really becomes apparent when you have NO money to contribute - only yourself. I was actually pleasantly surprised on a few fronts, who offered things up. (and who calls me to make sure I'm up and showering every day. ;-) Love you.).

So. Yeah. Random.

OO.... Abby sent me mail today... and in it was a new book! (WEE!)... It's called Chosen By A Horse by Susan Richards. A description here.
I'm really excited to read it actually... I had read a review of it... somewhere.... and thought it looked interesting... so. Away I go.

And yeah, I know it's 1:45am and I should be going to bed. But I'm not tired. So yes, I'm off to start my book!

So. Here we are. Like 5 days before Christmas. I'm just no into it this year. I'm TRYING to be... but, alas, the spirit has not yet moved me. I'm going through the motions, trying to get stuff together.... but. I dunno. Just not with it this year. Off-years are allowed occasionally, right?

Blargh. So. What have I got to say? Not a whole lot... I went to a job interview today for Child Abuse Prevention Vermont, a non-profit org. with a noble mission.... The job sounds doable, while not glamorous (although, I would have my own office!).... but the pay is VERY, VERY sad. Although, as my Dad (*grumble*) was quick to point out, SOME money is better than my current status of unemployment. Too true. It is also located slightly under a mile from my house. That could be awesome. I am pretty sure they are going to offer me the job. Who knows... We will have a decision by Friday afternoon, supposedly.

Tonight I have been knee deep in culinary undertakings (they will be in lieu of Christmas gifts, as I have no $$ for that!). They are... being... tempermental? Shall we say? Pictures may follow after tomorrow morning's finishing touches.

I REALLY just want to sit under a blanket and read. I was informed today that I must get into Terry Goodkind. Must.

Finally... I have nothing of particular importance to say... I'm generally feeling mopey and BLAH. I REALLY desperately want to go horseback riding, but now, sadly, I have no access to horses in any form. This is... uncomfortable for me. I can't *remember* the last time in my life I was so utterly horseless (I'm not sure I've ever been).

I want Christmas to be over, and I want to be approaching NYE... Fresh starts and all that. Yeah?

Quote of the day:

"There's a place I believe in, partly truth and partly fiction.
I can say, with conviction, I'll get there, I'll get there."

Yeah. So. We shall now all note the time. *sigh*. Welcome to the throws of Insomnia.

HOWEVER, I will state that I finished my book.... *scream*... can we say HORRIBLE cliffhanger, and the next one doesn't come out until the summer. Seriously. HORRIBLE. Like, practically one of those things that seems like mid-chapter (mid sentence, almost!)... Argh. Fabulously entertaining, nonetheless.

Alright. Off to lay in my bed and try to sleeep..... Because really, as tired and bleh as I will probably feel at work tomorrow... it can't really be worse than any normal day, right? At least I got to finish my book this evening...

... to sleep!
